New autos 2010: Toyota Aygo Black

Unless Aston Martin’s Ulrich Bez gets a wackier idea than the Cygnet in his head, the new Aygo Black is the range-topping version of Toyota’s smallest European model. Available to order now in the UK, the ‘Black’ builds on the specification of the Aygo+ model.

Additional features include Alcantara and leather upholstery, a leather-trimmed sports steering wheel, leather gear shift knob (manual models), 14-inch alloy wheels and Tempest Black metallic exterior paint finish.

Power comes from a 1.0-litre VVT-i petrol engine that’s hooked up to a standard five-speed manual or optionally (only for the five door model), Toyota’s Multimode transmission.

On-the-road Prices in Britain start from £9,460 for the 3-door manual model and top out at £10,810 for the five-door version of the Black with A/C and the Multimode transmission.
